Thomas Gosling was born on November 12th, 1980 in London, Ontario,
Canada. His parents are Thomas and Donna Gosling, he also has a sister
who is 4 years older then him. His family life was always happy growing
up, as far back as he can remember, Ryan has always enjoyed
entertaining people. "I've Just always liked to preform from day one," he
says. Yet being small for a boy, Ryan didn't have it so easy in school. he
would sometimes get beat up and mader fun of. besides that, Ryan was
always busy with dance lessens, and competitions, and that is where his
career began. He has won a lot of first-place trophies and ribbins in
competition. Another favorite of Ryan's is preforming with his sister
Mandi, who is a gifted vocalist and guitarist. The two would always sing
together at local fashion shows, charity benefits, weddings and other
special occassions. But Ryan would sometimes steal the spot light from his
sister with special solo preformances that included serenading brides with
romantic tunes sich as "puppy Love" and "when a Man Loves a Woman"
By the time Ryan was 12, he decided to take his career to the next level. He
couldn't wait to get involved in professional acting. but his mother wasn't
to sure about that, because she was afraid it would have some bad affect on
him. However knowing how much entertaining meant to him, she let him
give it a shot. Ryan signed with an agent, who landed him a spot on
Mickey mouse club. he beat out 17,000 other kids for the role!!! The next
few years of his life were spent with mostly guest appearences. (to learn
more about that see flimography) These days, Ryan spends most of his time
in Auckland, New Zealand, where Young hercules is taped. Although he
sometimes misses his native Canada while he's there. he's pretty happy
with the change of scenery. "I love it down here," he raves "its so
beautiful. its the perfect place to be!" When he Ryan isn't checking out the
sites around New Zealand, this quiet, down-to-earth guy is most likely
kicking back to jazz music, strumming his guitar, reading books or heading
for the closest movie theater. Ryan totally loves movies. Christopher
Walken, Benicio Del Toro, and Dennis Hopper are some of his other
favorite actors. As for girls, Ryan says he's attrated to, "someone who is
funny and just happy. She has to be sensitive and caring. it doesn't matter
if she's pretty-she just has to care about people." note- his quote totally
descibes me, if I ever meet him i'm sure we'll be going out! :)

When it comes to wooing girls, you'd think that Ryan Gosling has his bases
pretty much covered. As the hunky star of the Fox Kids Network's Young
Hercules, this 18-year-old studmuffin spends his time on camera beating up
th bad guys while saving beautiful damsels in distress. However, when it
comes to Ryan's romantic encounters off-camera, it takes a lot more than
the batting of eyelashes to make his head turn.
"She has to be funny," the London Ontario, Canada native confesses to
BOP about what first gives him that butterfly feeling in his stomach.
"Someone who is funny and sensitive and caring. I am not really interested
in the girls who only care about their hair. It doesn't really matter if
they're pretty. They have to be into something else and care about other
people."
Although such a winning combination is not always that easy to find, Ryan
does admit that there was a special someone in his life not all that long ago
in school--the only problem was that this girl was already taken. "[Even
though] she was dating some guy, I had a super crush on her," he admits
all dreamy-eyed. "I used to do the announcements in school ever the P.A.
and I sang to her in front of the whole school and one day I asked her out,
but she said no. I was heartbroken forever and I couldn't show my face."
And as if that wasn't the worst part, the "boyfriend" used to express his
rage for Ryan in a very unfashionable manner. "He used to beat me up,"
he says. "And as soon as I sang to her, boy, did I get it."
Well, while that was an awesomely sweet show of affection on Ryan's
behalf, he had to expect some repercussions considering that she did
already have a boyfriend. "That's all right," Ryan says, looking back on
those crazy-in-crush days. "Now I am out here [in Auckland, New Zealand,
where the show is taped] and I get to get the girls on the show. That's fun."
And as if being a major girlie magnet isn't enough, Ryan is Young Hercules
these days "That's right," Ryan gleams. "Now I can beat him up."

"I'd date a fan if she was the right girl-easy to be around, comfortable with
who she is, someone who likes jazz. The thrill of dating somebody is finding
out who she is. If I knew what I was looking for it wouldn't be as exciting."
